Tith Intry Sin is a Khmer (Cambodian) American multidisciplinary artist working and residing in Portland, Oregon. Currently, he is working primarily with clay, a medium in which he is self-taught and has been using since 2020.
Tith was born in 1979 in the city of Battambang, Cambodia. In 1980 he, along with his parents and three older sisters, fled the brutal civil war in Cambodia and arrived in the United States as refugees. They eventually settled in Chicago, Illinois, then later moved to Holland, Michigan.
After graduating from high school, Tith studied Fashion Design at The Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago, then Illustration at Kendal College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan and then Graphic Design and Photography at Columbia College in Chicago. This varied education helped shape him into the multidisciplinary artist he is today.
He always had a desire to connect more deeply with his Khmer heritage, and in 2019, he finally had the opportunity to visit Cambodia for the first time since he was born there 40 years earlier. In 2020 he self-published a photo essay book documenting his journey rediscovering the culture, lifestyles, and architecture of his home land.
In the year that followed, his work has been inspired by his appreciation for nature and Khmer culture. He works from his home studio in Portland to create pieces that are experimental, practical, and functional. He aims to highlight the inherent beauty of natural materials through his playful and thoughtful designs.
Tith has shown his work at various markets, events, and pop-ups throughout the Northwest, and in 2023, his ceramics and Cambodia photo book were featured in Old Brand New, a book by Dabito, an artist and Interior Designer.
Currently his work is available exclusively through his web-shop.
